Year 1 Topic Menu

Superheroes!

This topic menu includes some different activities linked to Superheroes. You could complete these over two weeks in addition to your English and Maths learning. 

Geography

Superman could fly around the world in just a few minutes. Imagine if you could do the same, what would you see?

·        Learn this song to remember the continents of the world. Superman would be able to see these as he flies around.

·        Can you use google maps to explore different places that your superhero might visit?

·        Use the map underneath to plan a route that you would take if you could fly anywhere!

History

There are lots of real life heroes we can learn about from the past. Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole are both significant individuals from the past. They were both very brave and real life heroes.

·        Can you choose one of our real life heroes and write 5 facts about their life?

·        Can you create a PowerPoint presentation to tell your friends what either Florence Nightingale or Mary Seacole was famous for?

Design and technology includes one of our favourite things. Cooking!

·        Can you plan a healthy meal to power your superhero?

·        With support from a grown up could you then make this healthy meal for someone in your family?

·        Can you write 2 things that you liked about cooking and 1 thing that you could do even better next time?

Art

Lots of superheroes were created as comic book characters.

·        Can you draw and create your own superhero?

·        Could you create a short comic book strip to tell a story about the adventures of a superhero?
